rebus illustrations
I love a good rebus: the amusing art form of “spelling out” a word or phrase with pictures. Rebus puzzles are more engrossing to me than crosswords, and they’re certainly more interesting to look at. The visual combinations are usually pretty darned funny. Sometimes even funnier than the word “rebus” itself.
These are a few illustrations (of many) I created for a series of greeting cards. Each drawing employs a simple rebus to deliver its message. Charming, iconic designs form the sentiments, with their “definitions” clearly stated in words below the art.
Hopefully, these illustrations prove that friendly art + a pleasant sentiment = engaging design. They certainly added up to a whole lot of fun for me.
